Composite Build Ups

A composite build-up is a conservative and cost-effective restoration as we do not have to significantly reduce your tooth to place the build-up.

What is composite build-up?

A composite composite build-up is a technique where composite resin is shaped and moulded onto your teeth to re-build a broken down tooth to make it functional and change its appearance.

What can you expect during your visit?

Getting a composite build-up is a quick and pain-free process. You will not need any anaesthetic because there will not be any drilling deep into your teeth.

Here is what to expect:

Step 1 - shaping and roughening up of the tooth surface

Step 2 - A conditioning liquid will be applied to your tooth to encourage the composite material to adhere.

Step 3 -Application of a tooth-coloured composite resin putty to your tooth and shaping it correctly.

Step 4 - Using a special light to harden the resin putty

Step 5 - Polishing and shaping the composite into your bite and the correct shape

What aftercare is needed?

With good day-to-day care, your newly shaped tooth will last you as long as look after it! Keep up your regular checkup and hygiene appointments to ensure that underlying problems can be identified.
