Composite Bonding
Composite bonding is the application of a tooth-coloured filling material to a tooth. The procedure gets its name because materials are bonded to the tooth.

This procedure involves the sculpting of the tooth using composite materials over the imperfections to create the appearance of straighter more balanced smile.
Who can have composite bonding?
Composite bonding is not for everyone and at your consultation we will discuss this with you and if there is a more appropriate option.

The most common situtations when composite bonding can be used are to:
-
Repair chipped, fractured or cracked teeth
-
Improve the appearance of stained or discoloured teeth
-
Close spaces between teeth
-
Improve the shape of teeth or make them longer
-
To protect a portion of the tooth's root that has become exposed when gums recede

What is the procedure?
Composite bonding is a quick and pain-free process. You will not need any anaesthetic because there will not be any drilling deep into your teeth.
Here is what to expect:
Step 1 - shaping and roughening up of the tooth surface
Step 2 - A conditioning liquid will be applied to your tooth to encourage the composite material to adhere.
Step 3 -Application of a tooth-coloured composite resin putty to your tooth and shaping it correctly.
Step 4 - Using a special light to harden the resin putty
Step 5 - Polishing and shaping the composite into your bite and the correct shape
Can I whiten my teeth before composite bonding?
As most composite bonding is done on front teeth we may also give you the option of tooth whitening prior to treatment to allow a better colour match for your teeth. In some cases it allows you to have that brighter smile!
Once you are happy with the colour of your teeth and ready to go proceed with the treatment we will arrange an appointment for you and get started on creating your ideal smile.
